An acrostic poem is one in which the letters going down the poem, spell out a word.
In the following poem, I wrote about my husband, before he passed away, the bold letters at the beginning of each line spell Barry Beall.
Barry, My Love
by
Glenda Beall
Always makes me happy.
Routinely perks my spirits up,
Romances me with a song.
Yesterdays have been fantastic.
Because he's in my life
Every day holds new excitement
As we progress on a marriage that has
Lasted forty-five years and will
Last for all eternity.
It was an acrostic poem written by some disgruntled seniors which had my senior magazine recalled and scrapped.
ReplyDeleteI love yours.
What a sweet and unique tribute to your late husband, Glenda. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks, EC. I would like to see that poem you mention. Was it cleverly done or mean spirited?
ReplyDeleteI have one I wrote for my sister, Gay. I will post it one day.
Thank you, Abbie, for your comment. I didn't think of it as a tribute, but guess it is.
ReplyDeleteMarie, I am glad it is seen as a tribute to Barry. Although I had not thought of it that way, I see that it is. I wrote about him while he was living and many more poems after his death. I hope to publish a poetry book soon with some new poems about Barry and me. Thanks for stopping by.
