Words from a Reader

The “Writing Life Stories” e-mails I receive are such treasures. As soon as I see there is one in my inbox, I read it immediately. I look forward to them and never know how they will touch me. They can be interesting, informative, humorous, and/or touching.

Sam's cake makes me hungry!

I just read My Carolina Kitchen blog by my friend, Sam, who makes me drool when I see pictures of cakes like the one above.

Sam was a part of our local writing group some years ago. She attended a class we held at the library where we taught members to use and create their own blog on blogger.com.

Her purpose at the time was to promote a memoir she was writing, but her blog became one of the highest ranking food blogs online.

I don't cook such elegant foods as the decadent chocolate cake above, but I'd pay someone to cook this one for me.
If you want to learn how to cook, or if you just enjoy reading wonderful recipes as I do, visit Sam's site. Today is her five year anniversary for My Carolina Kitchen.

Congratulations, Sam.

Friendship for Writing Life Stories

I am honored this blog was chosen by Nancy Simpson AND Sam Hoffer for the Friendship Award. My, oh my, two awards for my blog. I'm glad Nancy and Sam read my posts and I greatly appreciate being chosen. Nancy, of course, is my mentor for my writing, and she actually changed my life.
I respect Sam Hoffer as one of the best food writers online. She has the most delectable blog on cooking and also on Abaco, a place I hope I can visit one day. Since she joined our writing community, Netwest, she has enriched us all.

As recipient, my instructions are to choose 8 blogs and award them the Friendship Award. I
Thank you, Nancy, and thank you, Sam for this award. You are both dear friends.
Now, according to my instructions, I must choose eight bloggers for the Friendship Award. I'm sure these blogs have won this award and others in the past, but I will pass this on to them. I hope you find the time to follow all these instructions, but if you don't have the time, I certainly understand.

These words are to be passed on with each award:
"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated." It also says: "Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."
