Words from a Reader

The “Writing Life Stories” e-mails I receive are such treasures. As soon as I see there is one in my inbox, I read it immediately. I look forward to them and never know how they will touch me. They can be interesting, informative, humorous, and/or touching.

Rebecca Completed El Camino, an inspiring experience

My former student and good friend, Rebecca, has finished walking El Camino de Santiago, a 500 mile pilgrimage over mountains in Spain. You might have seen the movie on this subject with Martin Sheen and his son.

Rebecca posted on her own blog and on another website while making this trek. She has inspired people all over the world to give themselves the opportunity to take this journey, an athletic challenge and a spiritual experience.

Rebecca honored me in the following post on her blog.

  1. How wonderful. I did see that movie, and I appreciate the link to Rebecca's blog. I'll go read about her adventures, and congratulations on being a mentor.

  2. What a wonderful adventure for Rebecca, and how inspiring you were to her! It must feel fantastic to have been such a great mentor and teacher to her, and see her talent mature like it has:) Congratulations to both of you!

  3. It's funny you should mention El Camino de Santiago. A couple of weeks ago on my blog, I posted about a book I read by Martin Sheen and Emilio Estivez about their lives, their careers in the film making industry, and their father-son relationship. They talk about their experiences while filming the movie, The Way. You can read my post at http://abbiejohnsontaylor.com/blog/a-father-and-sons-story/ In the comments section, I just posted a link to Rebecca's blog posts about her experiences. Thank you for sharing this.

  4. After my friends left today I began watching The Way with Martin Sheen and I'm so glad I did. Now I have some idea of what the journey is. Hiking the Camino is something Barry and I would have done when we were young, I think. I might try to write a what if story. Thanks for reading and leaving your comments, DJan and Lise.
