Yes, with all you were provided to sell ...Hi Abbie.
Yes, with all you were provided to sell your book, it seems there is a small window of opportunity and suddenly it is over.

I think that is why publishers want authors who can turn out a second and a third book quickly.
I've always heard it is not the first book that is important, but the second and so forth.

It seems to me that book series are popular now. Come up with a colorful main character and then continue her stories with new or interesting plots and characters.Glenda Beallhttp://www.profilesandpedigrees.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8160021015821033799.post-87761774714055633432011-10-05T16:34:36.490-04:002011-10-05T16:34:36.490-04:00You really hit the nail on the head with this one....You really hit the nail on the head with this one. In 2007 when I published We Shall Overcome, I was fortunate enough to have a marketing toolkit that came with my publishing package from iUniverse. This contained a press release, a sell sheet, bookmarks, postcards, and other materials I found useful. Although the book sold pretty well in the beginning, sales fizzled out over the next few months, and I haven't made as much as I hoped I would. I didn't expect it to be a best seller, but I'd hoped it would be something a lot of people would like to read. Another writer once told me that some years, certain kinds of books are more popular than others so even now, I keep trying to market the book whenever I have an opportunity. But this whole process has turned me off of novel writing, and unless I get another brilliant idea for what I think will be the great American novel, I doubt I'll write a second book.Abbie Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13251937445976896173noreply@blogger.com
