Words from a Reader

The “Writing Life Stories” e-mails I receive are such treasures. As soon as I see there is one in my inbox, I read it immediately. I look forward to them and never know how they will touch me. They can be interesting, informative, humorous, and/or touching.

what is wrong with Blogger and this blog?

Once again, trouble with this blog. Can't change the sidebar. Can't delete anything on the sidebar. This is a frustrating problem.

  1. I've had issues like the one with the sidebar in the past. Each time it has been because the code I used had some flaw in it. If you edit the html it's possible you have deleted or added something that has screwed it up.

There are a couple things you could try.

There is a place to ask questions about blogger - I don't have the link handy, but I found it under "help" somewhere in one of the editing menus.

The other thing you might try is this:

Go to the entry you wrote when you first began to notice the problem.

    Open it to edit.

In the "compose" option, copy the entire entry.

Paste the Delete all the text from the entry.

    go to the html option.

paste the text you copied there.

Now go back to the compose option and edit it to look the way you want it to look.

This will get rid of all the code you had in the original entry. while it is a lot of work, sometimes it's easier than waiting for a response and trying to fix the problem that way.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Glenda, I've had the same problems with the sidebar in the past. I use Google Chrome as a browser and for some unknown to me reason it's not friendly with Blogger. Go figure.

To fix the problem I switched to Internet Explorer just to make adjustments to my sidebar and it worked. It just might work for you.

Good luck. I know it's frustrating.

  3. Thanks, Shen.
I will see if I can use your suggestions to fix my problem.
But since I lost this blog last year due to a hacker, I can't get it to work as it should. Just when I had it the way I wanted it to look, too.

  4. I was advised to drop Internet Explorer, but I think I will go back to it. I had less trouble with this type of thing.
    thanks, Sam.
    Are you back here yet?

  6. Glenda, I'm so glad you problem is solved. I don't care for Internet Explorer either. I'm crazy about Google Chrome, but a lot of things don't work well with Chrome yet. Life can be frustrating with blogging. I'm still a little intimidated when I have to chance something on my sidebar.

I am back and I'll see you at the party in Murphy.
